| - Swapping trannies is pretty common; for instance, it's common for drag racers of other makes to use Chevy Powerglides, because they are so strong, and because they typically make cars go faster due to less parasitic drag through the tranny. - Because some like to compare with Supras, I'd mention that this is a also a common swap for Supras, so it's not a new thing for the Japanese turbo community. - It doesn't take too many blown trannies to realize that not only are you faster with a race auto, but you're spending much less money to keep the car running. - With regards to turbos, by now everyone knows that I harp continually on the "power is not everything" point. This car is only proving that the right parts put together is what makes a car fast, and this Travis dude has just plain put together a killer combo. The 650's with modifed stock manifolds make plenty of power to move these cars in a big hurry; it's the chassis and supporting cast that must be modified to match the potential of the motor if you wanna drag race. - IF YOUR ONLY INTEREST is laying down good times at the strip - and let's face it, that's what most people walk around talking about when comparing cars - sure, you could spend more money on exotic components and use a stock tranny, but then you'd only have a more expensive, slower car. So why would you do that? I'd say Travis is one smart drag racer.
